Day 22 – July 14

Well, today’s blog is gonna be short.

We left Lake Creek Campground at 9 am so that we could get to Tok River State Recreation Site, Tok, AK, another first come first serve site. It was supposed to be a 3 hour drive! Of course, the road, Highway 2 between Haines Junction, YT and Tok, AK is a patchwork of asphalt, gravel, road repair with holes, washboard and big dips. After about an hour and a couple of really bad dips, Steve decided to stop at the Dry Creek rest area, to check on things in the trailer. As we were pulling back out, the alarm for the trailer tires begins to go off. One of the trailer tires had a leak. We were able to pull over in an area with a lot of space and Steve changed the tire. That added 1 hour to our travel time. With the road being so bad, we had to go slow. So the 3 hour drive turned into a 5 hour drive.

On another note, my iPhone has decided not to work properly. No text or phone working on it. Just not sure the problem. Thank goodness for my iPad. So all photos are still on the phone. Update, it finally started working.

Update on the trailer tire. It had a little sharp rock imbedded on the tire. Steve got it fixed. Tomorrow before we leave will will put the original tire back on.
